An Outline Planning application was submitted in 2012 to Wiltshire Council on Land at North Chippenham for up to 750 Dwellings, employment space, a Local Centre, a Primary School, a New Link Road & Public Open Space.
This application was approved in February 2016. The site is shared between Barratt/David Wilson Homes and Persimmon homes who will be developing the residential elements of the scheme.

The site comprises of approximately 48 hectares of existing greenfield made up of fields separated by existing hedgerows, and lies immediately adjacent to the existing urban area of Chippenham, directly to the north of Hill Corner Road.
Birds Marsh Wood, a County Wildlife and significant local landscape feature is located to the north of the site.
As agreed as part of the outline application the site will deliver 20% affordable housing to the area.
The scheme will provide a new link road to the North of Chippenham, as well as a key spine road leading through the proposed development and access points onto Hill Corner road.
A large amount of public open space will be provided, as well as a Local Equipped Area of Play (LEAP) and Neighbourhood Equipped Area of Play (NEAP). Existing hedgerows and trees will be retained through green corridors acting as a feature separating the residential land parcels.
The site will deliver a new primary school to the area as well as providing employment opportunities and a community/mixed use area.
The outline application for development was approved in February 2016, with subsequent Reserved Matters approvals following on from that allowing residential build. The site is shared between Barratt/David Wilson Homes and Persimmon homes who will be developing the residential elements of the scheme. A planning application for the balance parcel shall be submitted November/December 2020 and the local centre will go in for planning in Q1 2021. Plans and further updates on these applications shall appear here in due course.
