Brue Farm

Huntspill Road, Highbridge, TA9 3DN

Welcome to our community website supporting our proposals for a new primary school, homes and public open space on land adjacent to Huntspill Road, Highbridge.

The site is a parcel of land to the east of Huntspill Road. It forms part of a larger area that has been identified by Sedgemoor District Council as being a suitable location for 950 homes.

Highbridge benefits from a range of local facilities including schools, a variety of shops and community facilities.  There are also many sources of employment within the local area.

Barratt Homes has recently announced plans to develop the site.  This will include the construction of approximately 160 two, three and four bedroom family homes, a new primary school, play areas and a new roundabout at the entrance of the site.

About the Site

The site is bounded to the west by Huntspill Road and the wider Brue Farm allocated land to the east.  When completed, this parcel of land will form part of this new area of housing.  The primary access to the wider Brue Farm will be via Huntspill Road, Barratt Homes have therefore included a roundabout within the latest plans to minimise the impact on the local highway network while increasing road safety.

Our application will include a new primary school on the southern section of the site.  This land will be gifted to Somerset County Council to allow them to proceed with the delivery of the school.

Our Plans

The application for 171 units now has a Resolution to Grant subject to the signing of the S106, granted by the Development Committee on 20th August 2019.
