Barratt Homes Helps Keep Family Fun Day Alive

A much-loved family fun day in Chippenham is set to return this summer following a donation from Barratt Homes Bristol and David Wilson Homes South West.

We are both currently building 361 new homes at Birds Marsh View, Chippenham, and have donated £1,000 towards the Cherished Vehicle and Family Fun Day event, which had to be cancelled last year due to the covid pandemic.

Organised by The Lions Club of Chippenham, which usually raises about £30,000 every year to support people in Chippenham, Corsham and the surrounding area, the event faced a significant funding shortfall due to the cancellation of all regular fundraising gatherings over the past year.

Volunteers were therefore delighted to receive the donation which has allowed them to confirm this year’s event for Sunday 22 August. As part of our commitment to supporting the communities we are building in, we stepped in to help bring the popular event back for 2021.

We are both creating a range of 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes at Birds Marsh View with two new David Wilson show homes having just opened, as construction on the next phase of the development gets underway.

This summer’s Cherished Vehicle and Family Fun Day will display over 250 cherished vehicles, along with a fairground, local foods and crafts and other attractions for all the family.  The club hopes the event will be an opportunity for the people of Chippenham to meet again and celebrate, at the same time as raising funds to support important local causes. This year they are supporting Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the Bath Samaritans.

Martin Clancy, President of the Lions Club of Chippenham said:

“We are really looking forward to being able to hold The Cherished Vehicle and Family Fun Day again this year, which will be so much more than just a fundraising event; it will mark the end of a difficult period and give people the chance to meet again and enjoy a day of fun. It’s been a difficult time for us over the last year and we’re so grateful for this donation from Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes which will go towards the expenses involved in making this event one to remember.”

Andrea Pilgrim, sales director at Barratt Homes, said:

“The Lions Club of Chippenham is a great organisation that raises vital funds for charities doing really valuable work in the area and at such a critical time. We are passionate about making a positive contribution to the communities we build in and so we are delighted to be supporting this year’s event – raising much-needed funds and getting together to have some fun at long last!”

Louise Ware, sales director for David Wilson Homes South West, added:

“It’s been a such a tough year for everyone so we’re really pleased to be able to help bring back The Cherished Vehicle and Family Dun Day this year. I’ve no doubt it will raise a lot of money for really important local causes as well as giving the people of Chippenham a chance to come together and celebrate.”

Both us and David Wilson Homes donate £2,000 every month to local causes in the South West as part of our commitment to supporting the communities where we are building new homes.
