Remembrance Sunday with Street-Naming Ceremony
Representatives from Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes joined local people at the newly-launched Saxon Gate development in Leonard Stanley on Remembrance Sunday, for a special naming ceremony.
Streets at the new development are to be named in memory of local heroes who are listed among the fallen on the war memorial and guests gathered to witness the official unveiling of one of these – Lyndon Morgan Way – as part of this year’s commemorations. “We know that a number of brave servicemen and women from the local area have given their lives in various conflicts, and this was our chance to mark their ultimate sacrifice,” said Barratt sales director Andrea Pilgrim.“The local area is home to the families and descendants of those who have fallen, so it was very fitting that some of them were able to join us on the day. Our new development at Saxon Gate may even become home to relatives of some of those with streets named after them. Either way, the new streets will hopefully be a source of pride for anyone with a connection to the area.”
Joining Lyndon Morgan Way are Clutterbuck Close, Powell Close, Lusty Lane, Holbrow Close, Wyman Close, Bond Close, Dixon Close and Stafford Close – and each street name plate will feature a special poppy motif.
